TVNOW, RTL Deutschland’s streaming service, Berlin-based production company X Filme Creative Pool and production-distribution company Beta Film have teamed up for a new high-end period drama, House of promises (working title).
The 12 x 60 minute series, which is currently filmed on location in Berlin, Brandenburg and Görlitz, takes place in 1920s Berlin and chronicles the turning point of an era from the perspective of a young woman and a woman. House of promises will debut TVNOW, soon to be known as RTL +, in the first half of 2022 and later on VOX. Beta Film manages worldwide sales and will show the first images of the series at this year’s MIPCOM.
The series is the latest collaboration between X Filme and Beta Film, who have previously worked together on Babylon Berlin, which was produced with ARD and Sky, and also set in 1920s Berlin.
Naemi Feitisch leads the cast as Vicky, who arrives from the provinces in dazzling 1920s Berlin and lands her dream job as a saleswoman in the new Jonass department store.
As Vicky’s fortune continues to rise, she falls in love with the seemingly penniless pianist Harry (Ludwig Simon), who turns out to be the son of department store owner Arthur Grünberg (Alexander Scheer) and embarks on a love affair. seemingly impossible across the class divide.
