Devil’s Hour dropped all six episodes just in time for Halloween, and we at digital spy always like to know if there were any spooky happenings on set whenever an actor films a horror project.
In an exclusive interview with Call the midwife former student Jessica Raine, who plays a woman named Lucy who starts waking up at 3:33 a.m. (aka Devil’s Hour) with terrifying visions, we asked her if she encountered anything unusual while she and her co-star Peter Capaldi were filming.
“In this job, I found it really, really hard to sleep,” she explained.

“It’s not normally going to happen. But the production company really kindly put me up in a house. It was kind of a big house, because everyone was on holiday in the UK. So there was an option very limited as to where I could stay.
“Anyway, they ended up with this pretty big house, and I said, ‘It’s okay. My son and my husband are going to come and stay.’
“They ended up not staying at all because I was so busy filming. I was hanging out in this big unknown house [laughs]. I was just like, ‘Oh my God.’ I really couldn’t sleep. I think that touched me, that one. And there were two nights when I woke up at 3:33!

“Seriously,” she added, referring to the exact time her character wakes up on the show. “I was going to do my makeup the next day and I was like, ‘Guys, it happened again!
“I had no visions [but] it definitely pissed me off. And I also think that the relationship between Isaac and Lucy is so loving and difficult. I’m a mum myself now, so it was pretty easy to get in and get disturbed.”
Devil’s hour is available to stream now on Amazon Prime Video.
