In a recent interview with The New York Times, Ridloff explained how difficult it was for him to follow certain clues during filming. Fortunately, Angeline Jolie (Thena) found a unique solution. Ridloff said The New York Times:
“In some scenes, I had to face a wall. As a deaf person, how do you signal me? At one point, I shared my frustration with Angelina Jolie. And she immediately made a suggestion: why don’t we use a laser pen that special effects can easily erase? It was an ‘Aha, wow’ moment. Every time I looked at a wall, the performers would use a laser pen to draw a circle on the wall – “roll, roll, roll” – and once that was gone, it meant “Action! “”
A clever idea, indeed.
