MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Muskingum County Fair Board members met with county commissioners this afternoon to discuss possible improvements to the fairground.
Board members decided that the water line to the fairgrounds needed to be moved forward as well as an upgrade to the toilets behind the colosseum.
The toilets were built around 50 years ago and are in need of improvements inside, including new showers and toilets.
“We have water problems and we have enough water there. We want to move the water line through the fairground to get more water supply, ”said Dave Kreis, Chairman of the Muskingum County Fair Board of Directors.
The fairground is not only open for the annual fair, but also for other events and activities. Therefore, many people use the facilities for different things and after a while upgrades are needed.
“We operate 52 weeks a year. We have events every week at the fairgrounds, so these kind of facilities are necessary, ”said Kreis. “It gives us the opportunity to have more events at the fairgrounds.”
These projects have been part of the fair’s board infrastructure plan for two years, but once the pandemic hit the plans were put on hold.
Council members will return to the County Commissioners once they have a layout and prices for the projects.
