Premier Energies starts producing solar cells in a new factory

Premier Energies, a leading manufacturer of solar photovoltaic cells and modules, has started production of test polycrystalline cells with 19.2% efficiency at its new 483 crore plant near Hyderabad.

These solar cells are produced from high quality silicon wafers measuring 158.75mm X 158.75mm. The ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 certified manufacturing facility uses the latest quality control measures. This launch will increase the availability of high quality Made in India solar cells and contribute to Atmanirbhar Bharat government initiatives.

The new project, located in E-City Hyderabad and spanning 25 acres, is capable of producing Black Silicon MCCE textured multicrystalline cells (which are the first of their kind in India) as well as mono PERC cells with an efficiency greater than 22.5 percent. This technology comes with a wafer size change to 182mm and 210mm and will drive the industry towards a lower discounted cost of electricity and support a greener future. The official inauguration of the plant is expected in July, when the Covid-19 situation is expected to ease.

Premier Energies, based in Hyderabad, has a module capacity of 1.25 GW and cell capacity of 0.75 GW. With this increase in capacity, the company becomes the second largest integrated manufacturer of solar cells and modules in India. The company completed its 25 years of activity in 2020.
